Hiking 101: less weight, less waste

What I found..
It’s all about the ounces when talking with thru-hikers. Hikers are constantly trying to lessen the weight of their backpack when facing 2,000+ miles of trail. Increased pack weight can cause shoulder and back injuries and can make a thru-hike very challenging and uncomfortable. Everything that is packed in, must be packed out; backcountry travel 101. Leave no trace means that it is the responsibility of the hiker to do good for the land and for those hiking ahead and behind. Thru-hiking with a dog makes these trail policies hard to achieve due to the weight of the dog food, the amount of space it takes up and the scarce methods of disposing trash.
— long distance hiking with a dog can add a lot of weight on your shoulders.. literally!
What I did..
Feroz is a lightweight, sustainable, and easily accessible meal replacement bar for dogs thru-hiking. This bar is high in calories, carbohydrates and nutrients to provide long lasting energy while hiking big miles. Feroz bars are compact and slim in shape, fitting nicely a thru-hikers backpack with no need to give up all those precious ounces. The packaging is biodegradable, eliminating the hassle of disposing the wrapper.
— 2,190 + miles? Don’t hike it alone.. Go with Feroz & your furry friend!
Conceptual Thinking —
Less weight, less waste..
The concept throughout brings in the personality, the community and the environment of the trail to the bar. When hiking, you quickly become one with the trail. You depend not only on yourself but your environment to keep you going forward. You walk on the same tiny footpath with hundreds of other hikers. That tiny footpath is the same one that sends you from one point to the other with hundreds and thousands of steps in-between. It’s the feeling, environment, and community you feel while being outside and on the trail while also focusing on a hiker’s every ounce counts and leave no trace policies.
