A process..

Design is a process just like everything else in life. You have to take your time, soak it all in, be free with your ideas and ultimately just have fun with it! See how I conceptualized, art directed and designed each of my projects!

What I do..

Below shows how I conceptualize, art direct and design each of my projects!

1. Research —

How I start every project..

What I’m looking for..

Research is at the root of it all. What am I going to be designing for? What is the problem I need to solve and how will I solve it? Research also helps aid in the conceptual thinking and visual identity throughout each project.

Below..

— What is being said about the topic

— Brand comparison

— Existing terminology

— Brand positioning

2. Conceptual Thinking —

My favorite part of every project..

What am I looking for..

This is the part of my process where I look for the backbone of my project. How am I going to clearly communicate this project both in terms of the copy writing and visual identity.

Below..

— Concept options

— Visuals to help further conceptual thinking

— Research to help with communication

— Mind maps & word lists to get the brain thinking

3. Naming & Logos —

The start of it all..

What I do..

Sketch! Sketch! Sketch! This is the part of my process where I let it all go! I let my hand take control knowing that my brain will follow, eventually leading to a name and logo I can work off of and ideate.

Below..

— Name options with explanations

— Logo sketches & the meaning for each

4. Visual Identity —

Where it all starts to come to life..

What I do..

This is where my vision comes alive! I work in black & white with very minimal design, mapping out what goes where and how I see each element of the project living.

Below..

— Brand kit

— Apparel tag process

— Store signage process

— First round of graphics

5. Considerations —

How do I make this real..

What I do..

This is where I ask myself the important questions — What is important to say and where is the copy going to live? Where am I going to source images, how will I edit them to make them my own and what images are right for this project? Along with how all of this information is going to be translated to other mediums such as a website?

Below..

— Copy writing with where I see each line living

— Image sourcing
